Defining Salesforce Chatter Feed
Salesforce Chatter Feed is an interface wherein you and other Chatter users in your org can view profiles, updates, status messages, topic detail pages, on record detail pages, objects, and groups. Posts of people you follow on Chatter, as well as your own posts, can be seen on your Chatter feed.
You may click on the objects you follow on your Chatter Feed and comment on them to start interacting with the person who posted that particular object.
Chatter Feed may be compared to a social media network feed, wherein you can also see things that your friends or followed people are posting. Chatter is like a mini-social networking platform for business purposes, and your Chatter Feed gives you updates on the latest happenings on company projects undertaken within the Salesforce platform.
Feed Tracking
Chatter allows you to set Feed Tracking settings for objects you’re following on Chatter. Feed Tracking allows you to get real-time notifications about changes to particular objects in the interface.
You may do Feed tracking by following this path:
Setup > Customize > Chatter > Feed Tracking
The Feed Tracking page will appear. Click on specific objects that you want to track on your Chatter Feed. Once you finished enabling Feed Tracking for a specific object, you are now free to follow individual records for that particular objects.
Chatter Feed Features
Here are some useful features that Chatter Feeds have:
- Status Updates – A bar located underneath your profile picture and latest status lets you create a new updated status for your Chatter profile. This bar can be distinguished by the text “What are you working on?” written on it. You may attach links and files to your new status update as you wish.
- Groups – Chatter Feeds interface has a Groups tab that lets you manage groups you’re in to foster communication and collaboration among you and your colleagues.
- Post Options – Each post in your feed has options for liking, commenting, and deleting the post from your feed. You may like posts, add text comments, add files and links to your comments as needed, and delete unnecessary status updates from your feed.
