Organization is quite easy when it comes to Salesforce. For example, there’s a data assignment function for answers that you can look into. Basically, you start with a category, create sub-categories, then assign questions under these. Here’s a sample series: Product > Features > Questions > Answers.
Feature Compatibility
Data categories for answers is a feature that’s available in the Classic, Developer, Performance, Enterprise, and Unlimited versions of Salesforce. But there has been a recent update for 2018 wherein the support for Answers will be discontinued in some organizations in the Summer 2013 release of the software and new ones that are part of the 2018 versions. Access to the Answers component will continue to remain accessible though provided that it was enabled prior to Summer 2013.
Nevertheless, there’s no need to fret because Salesforce provided an alternative. With the recent update comes the launch of Chatter Questions. What you have here is a Q&A component where users can make inquiries and find answers within the Chatter feature.
Assigning Data Categories
For this particular zone, you can assign data categories by following these steps:
-
Create an Answers category (“Product” in the example above). Be consistent with the name. Check the community and see what they are using; this is so that everything will be aligned and system administrators will know what the category is meant for.
-
Add your preferred data categories (“Features” in the example above).
-
Go to “Setup” and look for “Quick Find.”
-
Search for “Data Category Assignments” under the Answers zone. Make sure Answers is enabled or else you will receive an error message.
-
Click “Edit” then choose the categories you want to assign. If you feel like changing this selection later on, note that doing so will delete all related categories in the series. You’ll have to go through the entire assignment process to fix it.
-
Click “Save.”
