Salesforce was included among the 2018 Fortune 100 Best Workplaces for Diversity. The cloud-based CRM provider got the 19th best rank in the list. Other companies recognized by Fortune included American Express, Hilton, Workday, T-Mobile, and Ultimate Software.
Fortune’s present ranking for diversity places a new and greater emphasis on the work experience of minority groups in companies. This measure aims to find out if companies treated different groups consistently, if different groups have similar opinions toward their employer, and if companies stayed true to their stated values.
How the companies were ranked
Fortune worked with people analytics firm Great Place to Work to determine the companies that made it to the list. Great Place to Work did a survey to collect data from more than 4.4 million employees in the United States. The survey focused on work experiences of women, people of color, LGBTQ people, boomer or older employees, and disable employees. The ranking resulted from a 60-question Trust Index survey concerning camaraderie, pride, and trust in the workplace of these, and a comparison of the results of their colleagues.
The people analytics firm included the company’s values, daily experiences of innovation, and effectiveness of leaders in the organization. These considerations were taken into account to ensure that all the employees experienced these values, leadership, and treatment consistently.
A result of a commitment to equality
The inclusion and ranking of Salesforce in the 100 Best Workplaces for Diversity can be attributed to their support for equality across the board. There is an emphasis to equal pay, LGBTQ+ equality, an accepting attitude, and a welcoming behavior. Employees feel free to be themselves while striving to be the best in their jobs. They do not feel any need to hide their identity or ask for equal treatment during their working hours.
