Salesforce Promotes Keith Block as Co-CEO

The Board of Directors of Salesforce, a global leader in CRM, has announced the promotion of Keith Block to co-CEO. Block is still a member of the board and now reports to the company’s Board of Directors.

Salesforce is the latest technology company that takes up the concept of having two chief executives.

 

Keith Block’s Role in Salesforce

Since joining Salesforce in June 2013, Block served as the company’s Vice Chairman, President, and Director. Most recently, he served as the COO since February 2016.

According to Marc Benioff, co-CEO, Chairman of the Board, and founder of Salesforce, Block has been his trusted partner and he is thrilled to welcome Block as his co-CEO. He also said that Block is has a remarkable corporate leadership experience and operational expertise, and adds that he “could not be happier for Block’s promotion and the next level of our partnership.”

Block said that the success of Salesforce is a testament to the visionary leadership of Benioff, which has created an unmatched culture of equality trust, and innovation. He adds that it is an honor for him to be co-CEO and to enforce each of their strengths as they lead Salesforce, their employees, partners, and customers into the future.

Respective Roles of Benioff and Block in Salesforce

Benioff remains as Chairman of the Board and will lead the company’s vision and innovation in certain areas including marketing, technology, culture, and stakeholder engagement. Block will lead the company’s operations, execution, and growth strategy.

Salesforce is the fastest growing enterprise software company in the world and also the global leader in CRM. This business model of having co-CEO further enables the company to continue its course of extraordinary growth as the company pushes forward to its next breakthrough of having revenue of $23 billion in FY22 and beyond.
